I am always amazed at the enduring message captured by the prophets. To those readers whose only image of scripture is static, framed in a religious structure whose objective is to protect the text, preserve Isreal or project some dispensational escape, much is lost.
Each morning I hear hope and relevance for my day, as well as a challenge toward change, because of the power and the mind of Christ in me.
I become the "voice of one calling: 'In the wilderness prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain. And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it together. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.'”
Isaiah 40:3-5 NIV
My calling is making straight in a desert land, the highways upon which folk trod in the search for the God who is love. Every low place in the troubled world is raised up as I walk through it! Sounds arrogant, but expresses the reality of one Spirit-filled and on point in their life's calling.
As I interact with others, my presence and giftings should make mountains more scalable, hills then become only bumps in the road, and the rugged places, well hey, been there done that!
Take a hold of hope in a way that the glory of the Lord might be shown to those around you. Bring fresh wind, new possibilities to those around you today. The true Christ-follower offers more than pious words, rather practical solutions in the marketplace, laced with love!
What a way to live!!
