Man Is Not Alone

Now half way through Rabbi Heschel's classic, and find it so interesting the he so expresses the awareness of God that I have found in Jesus, though he, per my research is far from Messianic.

This all speaks to the progressive nature of the I Am, this both/and God of Abraham. The I Am, and the I Shall Be!

The Christ (God in man) was/is so readily manifest in Creation, and then later through Moses, affords us certain commandments, The Law. We (humankind) then did what Heschel so masterfully declares, in an attempt to keep the law as a means of access to God, we create another religion!

So futile!

Then soon (a thousand years is but a day) God comes in the flesh as prophesied (even to His birthplace); not to abolish the Law, but to fulfill it by way of Presence.

The Jews recoiled at the thought of such travesty, that YHWH would lower Himself to that of "a carpenter's son."

This demand crucifixion, as was so ironically prophesied by his maverick Cousin John..."behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!"

Those who then followed this death defying Messiah were soon called Christians, as it seemed by their actions, their "greater things than these", that they had been with the Christ.

Now again it seems that Christendom has gone where Judaism had gone, with her futile attempts to lock into a Canon the requirements to attain faith (Heschel argues for another definition of faith...not keeping rules but experiencing awareneess, true Presence).

I concur.

We may now be in a Third moment as this progressive Being we call, YHWH, the Christ of Christendom further unfolds Love, with the intent that neither man, nor God should ever be "alone."
