Christmas Lights Year Round

If over the five decades of our marriage, any of you have ever been within visual distance of any of our homes around Christmas, they're all lit up!

One guest described the outside as similar to a service station without the pumps!

He had been sitting inside observing the cars, slowing down as they passed. Now in our cul-de-sac, some even reverently use only parking lights, pausing as their kids gawk at the numerous Redbud trees, every limb wrapped in thousands of white lights.

Early on, before my allergies developed, when invited inside, one found multiple live trees, each bedroom had one! As well, the Den and formal Living Room hosted massive "Charlie Brown" trees, then later on in our marriage, one for the cabin built our back!

You think this old man is stretching the truth? No one could possibly count the number of strings of lights we have purchased over these fifty some years, given they are so easily damaged each time the husband (that'd be me) impatiently pulls and winds them for storage each season.

Believe it or not, these thoughts were all sparked this morning as I continued to read Max Lucato's book. I reference yesterday's blog, as to how books seem to find me at just the right moments!

This is one of those!

Maybe the trillions of galaxies Lucado speaks to, which I've also pondered of late are for no other reason (sorry Elon) than God's way of creating "Christmas lights" across the heavens.

Preposterous thought for those like myself who stress to communicate the science that surely drives these galaxies! Maybe we need to "lighten up"!

Could this Being, like my wife, be simply about celebrating life!

Perhaps new galaxies have been spontaneously birthed since Creation, ever expanding across the heavens, with massive new stars sending light cascading toward this small "blue dot" in the Milky Way, which we know as Earth! Most having long burned out by the time we see them.

Beats buying new strands ever couple years at Hobby Lobby!

Of course, Lucado's writings are more biblical than mine, though his literal interpretation of the scripture so similar to how both LaDonna and me were raised to believe.

Yet, my mind always goes racing with wonder, the need to explain, while her's seems lost in delight.

This morning's read was different, my mind seemed coated with a spiritual calm, a more relaxed childlike wonder. Perhaps the Source of joy, which exudes from of my wife at Christmas is beginning to penetrate my being?

Thanks, Max!

So, what if in all the vastness of planetary mass, there is another realm called Paradise, though totally spiritual in nature, unseen by the human eye?

A place we enter upon taking our last breath, then discovering the wonder and beauty that LaDonna tries so desperately to honor during each holiday? Yes, even at "Hallowed Ween"!

If so, my ridiculous years, now over 70 spent trying to explain all these things by way of science, somewhat annoyed when my wife and the daughter she raised prefer to use terms like "magic" when Newton's Laws dominate my thoughts!

Maybe I just need to cross over to her delight, eliminating the stressful pursuit of explanation behind Creation.

Perhaps that tension is the real source of all aging, frustration, anger and then "sin"?

Maybe I just discovered the cure for cancer...all along it was joy, and the God breathed Christmas lights across the heavens, and with no messy cords!
