There Is Hope, Good News

This morning as I read scripture and reflected upon a lifetime of trying to clarify and communicate the essence of my own spiritual life, I arrived (perhaps again) at the error in my communication.

The Gospel, "the Good News" is not the Bible, even the New Testament, but rather is contained and propheticly revealed throughout both!

The Gospel is simply that God in Christ has once and for all provided remedy for our shortcomings (sin), though we continue to struggle as the Spirit walks us out of our human ways and toward the freedom of this Good News.

There is hope, not in ourselves but in Christ.

Whether you are reminded daily by your broken attempts to be like Christ, haunted even now by a guilt reinforced by your devotion to religion, rest in the Good News, "It is finished."

What an act of love, yet why are we surprised, for God is Love...a concept so ill communicated in our broken attempts at sharing life and love with each other.

"For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Rom.5:6-11 KJV
