Then Abraham Got Up!

Then Abraham rose from beside his dead wife..."

These words so spoke to me this morning. Two things: it was time to move on, and secondly, that he had not forgotten the promise.

Abraham would immediately begin the negotiation to secure a burial place, but this purchase, just south of Bethlehem, would not simply me a place for Sarah's bones, but the beginning of the legacy promised him in Genesis 15, "count the stars, so shall your offspring be...."

When life takes a u-turn, "life be lifing" as a friend once said, don't forget the promises.

Abraham was all about the promise, as his next move post burial was to have his senior servant place his hand under his thigh (serious business) sending him out to find his son a wife, from among his people, thus securing the genealogy necessary for the promise.

This kind of unbelievable detail, and its personal application in your life is easily overlooked, unless read with expectation and openness to the Spirit.

This critical storyline captured by Moses sets the trajectory for an otherwise unbelievable story, a babe born in a stable, the Lamb of God, the Lion of Judah. King of the galaxies!
