Easter: What about the power of Saturday

During my wondering about the resurrection over these last couple days, I had a discussion with my wife about what was most important to her.  Interestingly, it was not the crucifixion or the resurrection; it was what Christ did on Saturday!

Friday was the price paid for my sins and the demonstration of a love that would draw me to Him.  Sunday was the promise that living in the world was not all there was and that death no longer was to be feared.  But for my wife, it was Saturday.  Why?  While the disciples mourned in despair, Christ was doing battle in the spiritual realm, descending into hell, taking death captive, releasing those who had kept the law in righteousness but were still held without hope…read for your selves.

18I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. Revelation 1:18 KJV

9Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?  10He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things. Ephesians 4 KJV

14Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

15And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. Heb. 2:14-15 KJV

All that was accomplished on Saturday, so that we could live free in the here and now, without fear!  For my wife its about celebrating as a true family, and not just some annual feast but everyday with Him.  Easter Egg Hunts, Sunrise services, family meals, even well done plays…its all about Saturday through Christ!!

He is Risen, celebrate!
