Don't Miss the Message of God's Grace, Lest Your Version of Christianity Become Simply Another Religion

Sometimes we miss some of the more important messages embedded in the Book of Acts. In this case, the fact that God was at work among gentiles like Cornelius, simultaneously as with the Jews. This man's prayers were already attracting an audience with angels!

It seems that this "God fearing" and benevolent centurion had an enviable relationship with God long before Peter brought the message of Christ.

This should give us pause as evangelicals, given our tendency to exclude and label others, assuming the Good News of Christ necessary for one's prayers to be heard.

The Good News is that grace has been poured out on all, even those thought of as the enemies of Christ. The law was simply a schoolmaster pointing us toward and preparing us for the reality of grace; walking humanity out of the rigors and demands of religion, toward the true nature of the Father.
