An Annual, Timely Refreshing

After surviving the war-like spirit of the Book of Judges, I always look forward to the Book of Ruth, a kind of grace moment tucked within the Canon of scripture.

With much suspect of those chosen to construct the Canon, given the objectives likely within Constantine's culture of conquerors, Ruth adds a refreshing sense that God was still in control, inspiring hope even in dark times.

Each time I read, I can hear the good and gracious story offered my own life as a young 25 year-old, once I returned to my near-kinsman in 1973.

What seemed like a serendipitous moment in my Dad's living room late one night, was actually the faithfulness of my heavenly Father, who had heard the unspoken hardship hidden within my heart.

I listen again to my own drama each time my annual read arrives at this amazing book!

Now, on to again revisit that "Samuel moment" that also happened at age 10.
