People, Poison and Prison

People, Poison and Prison

Not sure why these words came to my mind during the night, but they continue to surface.

My thoughts are that we humans too often fall victim to majority thought. Sadly at times most toxic, poisoning our character. We soon find ourselves unable to abide by the individual dictates of our heart, that place where the Spirit speaks to us.

Collective action upon such toxic thoughts can then result in catastrophic tragedy, such as never desired apart from this poisioned persuasion. Once consummated, those actions often result in shameful imprisonment as realization hits us with the full awareness of the destruction we allowed.

Not as in cells made of concrete and iron bars, but a spiritual entrapment that snares generations, and further fosters the hatred of our adversaries.

Guilt then often becomes the evil watchman that prevents generations from escape of the memories of such devastation.

Collective actions bare individual consequences!

Sadly, this seems the case with our nation, power having now seduced her leadership, mercy seemingly minimized.

We are in a strange place at the moment, when deep divides exist within our democracy, compounded by a growing debt, soon becoming unsustainable.

All this seems to be taking us down a road toward political reinforcement of Christianity, which has never proved beneficial in the long run!

Perhaps long reinforced by a literal interpretation of scripture that speaks of a generation "that will not pass away" before some apocalyptic moment, once Isreal became a nation.

That happened in 1948, my year of birth.

As well, scripture casts focus on a nation that none thought could be destroyed, yet her enemies set offshore and wept as "Babylon the Great" is destroyed in "one hour."

Obviously this is not the Babylon we are at war with, now in our third week. I have to wonder if that might even be us?

Then again, as I ponder the nature of the "I Am", as reflected in the incarnate Christ, I still have hope that somehow John the Revelator and even Daniel might have been misunderstood.

It's not overly difficult to consider such apocalyptic moments as another one of history's reoccurring Reformation moments. The word Apocalypse does originate from the Greek apokalypsis, meaning "uncovering" or "revelation," commonly referring to a dramatic unveiling of hidden knowledge.

Uhmmm?

I would not be surprised if perhaps finally these three faiths, now warring in the Middle East, all claiming to be descendants of Abraham, are not being brought to their knees.

Wouldn't that be just like Jesus, though certainly not what John the Revelator nor the prophet Daniel seemed to foretell.

Interesting times that reveal the outcome of centuries, as religion continues to distort the message of love. Sadly, those who dare challenge such distortion often die in the end.

I have to wonder, were I ever placed in a position where my attempts at honest transparency were called to task, as was the case with men like Jan Hus or William Tyndale, both burned at the stake by the institutional church, could I stand firm.

As a fellow human, my heart is pained by the poison now consumed by so many and the impending imprisonment of our souls, once we grasp where this moment has taken us, "should the Lord tarry."
