Merriam-Webster defines the word as "the quality of being able to grasp and comprehend what is obscure."
The older I become, the deeper my desire to truly discern the times, after all I have fewer days to bring value to this earth and to my offspring.
Rapid change and the acceleration of such are both threatening and exhilarating; also energy consuming.
Throw in everyday life, with our next home now under construction after 30 years of blessing and beautification around the grounds of our present domain. Then, along with the care of our "western campus", as one of my former students beg our Blowing Rock home...just whew!!
Blessed beyond measure, yet stirred as well by our national scenario!
My skepticism of current leadership seems challenged daily, at times alignment, then next day, what were we thinking, America!
Everything within me causes me to question where are nation is headed, yet those with whom I have invested the majority of my life must surely wonder if my faith has completely run off the rails.
Being neither far right, nor left and having long abandoning any absolute partisan political persuasion, my grounding seems more unstable than ever. Even words like "bringing religion back" now seem most unsettling, though encouraged by the Gen Z possibilities given statistical data!
What is going on in this old curmudgeon's spirit?
Yet, when I read of men and women who's lives were captured for prophetic purposes in scripture, theirs too was no easy road.
Guess I'll ride this out and trust God's grace, which has been always been abundantly sufficient to this point.
