As I cross over into Leviticus, I am reminded of the grace and mercy of the Lord, for we see how God continues to cover for Moses after one of his worst leadership moments, one made in fear, and that was selecting Aaron as his spokesperson.
Here the Golden Calf guy is allowed to initiate worship and with his sons, later a challenge as well. I have to wonder how things might have been if Moses' decision had been different.
Decisions have consequences, even when grace is extended. Do I ever have that t-shirt!!
My takeaway in my last few months of reading is how accurately scripture captures we humans, and how our ways so inaccurately influence our image of God (religion). Yet, how powerfully and mysteriously the texts point to the Christ, who was God incarnate!
However, we then march from Calvary to a Christianity that is now rightfully being challenged by a generation thirsty for spiritual renewal. Leaves me wondering about the "next"!
Now you may understand the title!
"And he shall kill the bullock before the LORD: and the priests, Aaron's sons, shall bring the blood, and sprinkle the blood round about upon the altar that is by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. And he shall flay the burnt offering, and cut it into his pieces. And the sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire upon the altar, and lay the wood in order upon the fire:"
Leviticus 1:5â€-‬7 KJV
