A Peace For This Piece

These words came to my mind this morning during my devotions.

Most who know me or have read my writings are familiar with my "misuse" of Philippians 4:7. I choose to believe that every person I meet represents a unique a p-i-e-c-e "of God that passes all understanding." Though many have yet to grasp this gifting to the fullest extent of their potential, this God of the galaxies (trillions perhaps) has surely assigned critical roles for each in their mother's womb. At least, that is my belief!

Unpacking that "piece" assures a peace that truly "passes all understanding."

This piece is now seeking that peace for himself though likely in my final season, at least in my 4th quarter!

These last few months have been ridiculously loaded with activity, media imputs, guarded caution and moments of spiritual clarity.

I recently returned from a 14 day trek through Tanzania with my grandson and daughter. Seven of those days were spent in various conservation areas on a once in a lifetime venture. Yes, an African Safari.

Yet, my takeaway was far more than the joys of observing the fascination of my budding zoologist grandson, but as well included a new love and desire to bring value to the lives of the many dear village people whom I met.

Upon return, I began immediately to work toward some collaborative initiative within my rather large network.

Now entering my 78th year of life, one given to fostering and preserving relationships, this could be an amazing season.

Then, just this week I attended a presentation by a threesom of entrepreneurs that are doing exactly that in Liberia. Ironically, one of my longest investments of time has been with a native Liberian, now since their last revolution stateside as a pastor & bishop.

At that presentation, I was given a book entitled, "Witness, A Civil War ThroughThe Eyes Of A Child." The book captures the horrors that can occur when political leadership somehow finds themselves overly empowered with little restraint, and when threatened by rivalry, able to set off a civil war. In this case arming children driven by the fear of death to the degree that that kill their own parents.

Hideous history but a documented reality.

Could our young nation ever experience such a nightmare? For my grandson's sake, I hope not. Though in the bizarre moments of federal intervention across our nation, I sense a growing concern. Even less assured given the silence and daily loss in balance of power as was once secured by our congress and constitution.

Time seems shorter now, yet the call for action, even global louder than ever!
