A Lesson From a Land Filled With Milk and Honey

Writer: John BostJohn Bost

Work with me here, cause sometimes "cherry picking" as I read through scripture seems to be more from the Lord, and often different than what I had earlier seen.

"If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey."

Numbers 14:8 KJV

I know it was meant to communicate a win for us and the Lord's delight, however the way this King James version reads, "give it us," in hindsight makes this old ecology buff wonder.

Giving "it us" sounds like it was a gift to the land. If the land was already flowing with milk and honey, was not the gift of us a detriment to that land, given how we have treated our planet?

God please provide us a sense balance in our blessing for the sake of our children's children!

Just say'n!
