Who Is This God?

Each morning of my life seems an intriguing journey of exploration. One, that includes a disciplined read through the scriptures, often accompanied by parallel thought processes, prayerful struggles with paradox, framed by some other book that has "found me."

I take the combination as a means of guidance, along with the circumstances that arise serendipitously throughout the day. Underlying all that is a sense of calling that seems sovereignly protected, given that I sense a deep love by the One who became flesh and dwelt among us!

Layered into all that is my constant pursuit of the Big Picture. The numerous projects in which I am involved by way of real estate seem almost of no consequence, having now for years, given my income stream over to the Lord. When challenges arise, I pray for wisdom and then act upon that. It has always seemed to work.

My takeaway is that my real reason for existence is to communicate the big picture. The small stuff, others can wrestle through, and wrestle they do!

Human beings are restless beings, unlike the birds of the air that sing in between meals, nesting in conveniently found spaces. Often the where of their nests annoying, such as when the wrens show up each year, taking residence in the shelves of our garage.

This year, its the cardinal that is building in the Bittersweet vine that my wife has growing over the archway to our front porch. Thus, the white splotches on the brick pavers below. The sudden fluttering her wings always seems to catch me off guard each time I walk out the door. A reminder, that we are not alone, nor in control!

I know better that to sweat the small stuff that goes on around me. Yet, all that is a part of the paradox, the source of intrigue, the substance of beauty.

I see that beauty in data which implies that even the density of the multiple millions of galaxies is by design, with black holes created over the ages by an implosion of gravity. The latter perhaps a means of preventing damaging radiation from escaping.

Yet, over eons of time, the same potentially catastrophic activity has afforded a periodic table of elements sufficient for higher life forms like you and me! By the way, the likes of which seem only found on one relatively tiny speck of dust called, Earth. That is amazing!

Somehow all this speaks equally as loud to me as my read through Micah, written around 8-7 BCE. Both bring assurance, given that my only task is "to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly."

Meanwhile this Being that created particle-like photons that can travel light years through a maze of galaxies by way of wave motion, has set up a matrix of paradox for me to ponder!

"Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea. You will be faithful to Jacob, and show love to Abraham, as you pledged on oath to our ancestors in days long ago." ‭‭Micah‬ ‭7:18‭-‬20‬ ‭NIV‬‬
